The Music and Psyche Network holds that sound can be a vessel for experiences which transcend ideas of music as entertainment. The Network exists to honour music’s dynamic function of providing a bridge between inner and outer states and the ways in which this profoundly affects physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. It affirms the properties in music which heal, transform and empower individuals, and which strengthen and deepen communities. The Network aims to build a container within which self-discovery, shared understanding and mutual support can occur. Members reflect the gamut of musical preferences, but are unified by their search for what is universal and unchanging in music, believing that it can provide direct access to the subconscious, the dream-life and archetypal levels of experience. The Network exists to restore a sense of the common ownership of sounds, recognising the capacity, the wit and the wisdom of everyone to make music. |
